October 2024 - The national elections in Austria have undoubtedly delivered a clear message: The far-right Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) has emerged as the strongest force. However, although it has won a considerable number of votes, the question remains as to whether the other political forces in the country should pave the way for the FPÖ to take on government responsibility. The answer to this must be a decisive “no”.

September 2024 - Volt Austria elected a new Federal Executive Board back in July, which is now officially in office after a handover period. Rico Winter was confirmed as Co-President for the 2nd term of office, the new Co-President is Karoline Adam. As there were candidates for all positions, the Federal Executive Board is finally complete again.

...but as much as we would like to run in the National elections in order to introduce strong European policies at national level, after a draining European election campaign we unfortunately lack the resources at the moment to run an election campaign worthy of Volt.

The "Patriots for Europe" group was recently founded in the European Parliament. The main person responsible is also the European troublemaker on duty: Victor Orban. The plan of this nationalist group is simply to dissolve the EU as we know it. Among other things, this means dismantling the rule of law, corruption and restricting free media. Volt opposes this.

26.6.2024 Voter turnout among French citizens abroad is currently below 30 percent. This urgently needs to change in order to prevent a shift to the right in Europe. Help motivate French citizens in Austria to vote. Every vote against the extreme right counts!

Volt joins Greens/EFA in the European Parliament > After negotiations with both Greens/EFA and Renew Europe, Volt held a membership vote on their MEPs’ group affiliation. > A majority of 87%voted in favour of joining the Greens/EFA group.

MEPs Damian Boeselager and Sophie in 't Veld are elected as European lead candidates for Volt. Volt is the only party in Europe to put forward a transnational list with candidates from 20 European countries.

Unfortunately, we were not able to get enough declarations of support this time and will therefore not be on the ballot paper in the 2024 European elections in Austria. Nevertheless we would like to thank all of the approximately 1000 people who supported us: A huge THANK YOU!
