Social Equality

Volt strives for a society in which all people are equal, have the same rights and opportunities and in which all people can participate. This means ending all discrimination against groups and minorities, consistently reducing poverty, ensuring the integration and participation of all people in society and guaranteeing everyone the right to control their own bodies.

Let's end all discrimination against groups and minorities

The society of social equality that Volt advocates is characterized by the fact that all groups and minorities are treated with respect and tolerance and that all people are given equal opportunities. This is why Volt wants to improve the equality of the following groups in particular: People affected by sexism, people of different sexual orientations, identities, genders, different cultural or national affiliations and followers of different religions and world views.

No one should live in poverty

Volt stands behind the goal of reducing the total number of poor people in the EU to less than 50 million by 2030 and thus freeing them from poverty and social exclusion. This requires social benefits. However, these are not a long-term solution for reducing poverty. One of Volt's key objectives is therefore to provide all EU citizens with the resources they need to enjoy equal opportunities and participate fully in society.

Redesigning construction and housing in a socially responsible way

Volt is committed to ensuring that the public sector sets standards in terms of supply and structural design. The mechanisms of the free market are no longer sufficient to overcome environmental and socio-political crises. It cannot and must not just be about profit. The influence of the public sector should ensure that all people have a reasonable place to live. A corresponding concept must be a political goal and all those involved in construction are committed to this goal.

Equal social participation for all

Volt wants to take decisive measures that benefit the most vulnerable in society and enable them to participate. Volt's focus is on older people, people with special educational needs, people with disabilities, people affected by mental health issues and foster and institutionalized children.

The 5+1 Challenges

Volt has defined 5+1 fundamental Challenges that need to be tackled in each European country and in Europe as a whole.

Why 5 + 1 Challenges?

The 5 Challenges are basically the same for every country, but their implementation can be adapted on the national level to take into account local realities.

The +1 Challenge – our proposal to reform and strengthen the EU – is identical across all our national programmes.
