Vienna Election on April 27 And one-third of Vienna's residents are not allowed to vote at the municipal level.
In Vienna, people from all over the world live together, but not everyone is allowed to vote. EU citizens with their primary residence in Vienna can only vote at the district level. All others are excluded from democratic participation.
We say: Democracy should not depend on a passport!
We are fighting for: voting rights for all residents in Vienna and innovative forms of participation, such as a Citizens' Future Council. You can help make this change. Get involved with Volt or submit a declaration of support – and make Vienna a city where everyone truly has a voice.
Vienna Election on April 27 And one-third of Vienna's residents are not allowed to vote at the municipal level.

1. strengthen democracy
Vienna is a modern and diverse city in which freedom and self-determination play a major role. But the democratic deficit is growing - many people are excluded from political participation. Volt is committed to:
The right to vote for all citizens, regardless of origin
Easier access to politics for new and small parties
More women and marginalized groups in decision-making processes
Innovative forms of participation, such as citizens' councils and a council for the future
In times of threatening right-wing extremist and authoritarian tendencies, a strong democracy is more important than ever.
2. promote a regenerative economy
Vienna is an important business location in Central Europe. But in view of the climate crisis and green transformation, the city must become a pioneer for a sustainable economy. Volt demands:
Circular economy to use resources efficiently
New green jobs and targeted promotion of innovation
Strengthen Vienna as an international start-up metropolis
Gender equality in economic life by including the skills and perspectives of all genders
A sustainable and feminist economy secures our livelihoods and ensures social justice.
3. reshape mobility and climate
Vienna has an excellent public transport network, but car traffic continues to dominate public space. Volt stands for fair and sustainable mobility:
More car-free zones and shared zones, city tolls and 30 km/h speed limits in inner districts and consistently expanded and safe cycling infrastructure
More green spaces and greening measures, especially in inner-city districts such as Josefstadt and Neubau
Promotion of sustainable construction and renovation
Strengthened climate adaptation measures: sustainable protection of the city against heat and flooding
Create a liveable environment for all through smart and feminist urban planning
4. promote diversity and an open society
Vienna is an international city that welcomes all people. Volt is committed to:
Anti-racist education that promotes respect and breaks down discriminatory structures.
Measures against discrimination in institutions such as the police, administration and justice system.
Combating gender-based violence where it occurs, with prevention work at the center
Protecting vulnerable groups such as the homeless, Roma and LGBTIQ+.
Combating Islamophobia, Islamism, anti-Semitism, extremism and other forms of discrimination.
Our goal: Vienna as a safe space for everyone.
5. assume social responsibility
Vienna is a social city, but inequality is growing here too. Volt focuses on:
Right to housing for all, through measures against vacancy and affordable rents.
Healthcare as a basic right for all, regardless of income or origin.
Promoting a healthy lifestyle, with access to nature, sport and healthy workplaces.
A socially just and feminist Vienna is the basis for a strong community.
Our election programme is currently being developed in collaboration with experts, specialists and civil society organizations. It is a vision - by Viennese women for Viennese women. More information will follow towards the end of February. Stay tuned!
