What does Volt stand for? / Our election programs

Our program for the 2024 National Election

Volt in the National Council elections with a sustainable program. We are not giving up!

Inflation, wars, migration, rising rents, climate change - sometimes you almost want to despair when crisis after crisis piles up. How can we tackle and overcome these problems? Our answer: definitely together! The more we want to isolate ourselves within Europe, compete with each other instead of cooperating, the more difficult it will be to find constructive and sustainable solutions to global crises in particular. That is why we are not giving up and are campaigning for a strong Europe - and for an equally strong Austria as part of a European republic. Volt stands for human rights and social justice throughout Europe, for a sustainable and innovative economy, and for the fight against climate change.

Here you can find the complete election program (only in German). Among other things, we demand:

  • The right to vote for all people living in Austria aged 16 and over

  • Digitalization and data protection

  • Unconditional basic income

  • Housing rights as a basic right

  • Tax for the super-rich

  • Expanding renewable energies

  • Promote energy storage solutions

  • Climate-friendly building and heating

  • Climate-neutral agriculture

  • Reassess neutrality and strengthen EU defense

The 5+1 Challenges

Volt has defined 5+1 fundamental Challenges that need to be tackled in each European country and in Europe as a whole.

Why 5 + 1 Challenges?

The 5 Challenges are basically the same for every country, but their implementation can be adapted on the national level to take into account local realities.

The +1 Challenge – our proposal to reform and strengthen the EU – is identical across all our national programmes.
