Provisions for a European Constitution

Provisions for a European Constitution outlines the foundations for a European constitution with the vision of a democratic, federal, and sovereign European Republic, in which democracy, the rule of law, human rights, federalism, and subsidiarity take center stage.

The proposal calls for a parliamentary system with a strong European Parliament, a democratically legitimate European government, and an independent judiciary. Responsibilities are to be clearly distributed among the European, national, and regional levels.

In the long term, the EU is to evolve into a sovereign European state. To this end, the citizens of the member states are to create a common European people and a common constitution through a democratic constitutional process.

The 5+1 Challenges

Volt has defined 5+1 fundamental Challenges that need to be tackled in each European country and in Europe as a whole.

Why 5+1 Challenges?

The 5 Challenges are basically the same for every country, but their implementation can be adapted on the national level to take into account local realities.

The +1 Challenge - our proposal to reform and strengthen the EU - is identical across all our national programmes.
