Panel discussion with Damian Böselager, Christoph Schwarz and others: “Is Security a European Issue? Why Defense, Resilience, and Democracy Cannot Be National Endeavors”
As part of the Volt Europa General Assembly in Bratislava in June, we cordially invite you to a high-profile panel discussion addressing one of the key issues of our time: the future of European security.
Under the title "Is Security a European Issue? Why Defence, Resilience, and Democracy Cannot Be National Endeavours," Damian Böselager and AIES Senior Fellow Christoph Schwarz, alongside other guests, will discuss Europe's security policy challenges. The discussion will be held in English.
In light of global tensions and targeted attempts to influence democratic structures, the question is more pressing than ever: how can Europe effectively protect its democratic values and institutions? Whilst authoritarian actors seek to weaken the European Union, disinformation and digital propaganda are becoming increasingly significant - often proving more efficient and cost-effective than traditional military means.
The panel will explore why security in Europe can no longer be viewed as a purely national responsibility. What are the benefits of a common European defence? How can resilience and democratic stability be strengthened? And what role can a country like Austria play within a common European security architecture?
The event offers fascinating insights, critical perspectives and the opportunity for an open discussion about the future of Europe - and about how we, as Europeans, can present a stronger united front.
