Panel Discussion: “In the Middle” Does Not Mean “Mediocre”: The Role of Democratic Parties in a Changing World
We cordially invite you to our panel discussion on the topic 'In the middle' Does Not Mean ‘Mediocre’: The Role of Democratic Parties in a Changing World.
In a world full of upheaval, one might expect centrist parties to serve as a bastion of stability for voters and democracies. Yet the opposite is true: in many EU member states, it is primarily far-right and far-left parties that are benefiting from the current political climate. What are the reasons? Is it mediocre centrist politics, or is politics simply not that simple? Is it a reluctance to embrace more Europe and European reforms, which could also provide answers to national challenges? Do we ultimately lack European leaders? We will discuss these questions and more in our panel with our guests, including Robert Menasse (writer) and Sven Franck (founding member of Volt Slovenia). Moderator: Karoline Adam (Co-President of Volt Austria)
